Familiar faces chosen for Campton Hills board
Voters in Campton Hills on Tuesday chose one new face and two familiar candidates for three 4-year terms on the village board.
According to unofficial results, incumbents Michael Millette and Michael Tyrrell finished with 648 and 610 votes, respectively, to lead a six-candidate field.
Nicholas Girka captured the final seat with 466 votes.
Millette, the only remaining original trustee since the village incorporated 10 years ago, said he wants to complete the village's zoning ordinance and comprehensive plan. He also hopes to move a bickering board forward and not worry about individual personalities.
"I'm going to do my best to get everybody to keep talking and work toward solutions," Millette said. "It's always humbling (to be elected). We have a good group."
Rounding out the field were Wendy White Eagle and Josephy Carpenter, both with 421 votes and Rob Santora with 348, according to unofficial results with all precincts reporting.
Trustee Jim McKelvie, who was appointed to fill a vacancy, did not seek a full term, meaning voters would elect at least one new face to the board Tuesday.
Girka will vacate his spot as clerk to serve as trustee, so Village President Harry Blecker must nominate new trustee to serve until spring 2019.
