Girls soccer: Burlington Central wins Huntley Invite

Burlington Central's girls soccer team claimed the championship of the Huntley Invite Saturday, defeating Hononegah and Rockford Boylan.

The Rockets improved to 5-1 overall and won the 6-team tournament championship with a pair of 3-0 wins against the NIC-10 duo.

In the championship against the Boylan, Jordan King scored twice and Megan Majewski added 1 goal while Alexis Rosa tallied 2 assists. Anna McMahon also assisted and goalkeeper Erin Rafferty, who posted 2 shutouts on the day, had 5 saves.

Against Hononegah, King, McMahon and Sydney Pryor found the net while Majewski provided 2 assists and Rosa 1. Rafferty also posted 3 saves.

Huntley 4, Harlem 0: In consolation play at Huntley, the host Red Raiders (3-1-1) cruised behind the play of Braidy Ceh (1 assist) and Tayah Owens (1 goal). Brenna Keegan led the way with 1 goal and 1 assist while Avery Fitzgerald and Lauren Talesky added goals. Hannah Scholer added 2 assists and keeper Abbey Brown provided a shutout with 2 saves.

Elgin 9, Addison Trail 0: The Maroons (1-1-2) earned their first win of the season using 9 different goal scorers in nonconference action. Brittany Dazzo led Elgin with 1 goal and 2 assists while Brenda Acuna, Michelle, Perez, Hayly Munoz, Nathalia Garfias and Sofia Mari each had 1 goal and 1 assist. Makenna Downing, Guadalupe Sanchez and Kylie Graves also added goals while Graves (2 saves) and Hannah Erickson (3 saves) split time in net for the shutout.

West Aurora wins tourney: West Aurora's rally on Friday night against Plainfield East paved the way to win its own tournament for the third-straight year by defeating Rosary 10-0 and East Aurora 4-0. Against the Tomcats, Riley O'Brien provided 2 goals while Katharine Stephens and Sarah Alcala each had 1. Gracie Prather and Jessica Ortiza assisted on goals while Bailey Ziman turned the shutout in net.
