Baseball: Mundelein goes 4-0 on trip

Mundelein 10, New Trier 0: On Thursday night, Brendan Murphy hit an inside-the-park home run, as the Mustangs finished their Spring Break trip to Carbondale with a 4-0 record. Winning pitcher Will Michalski went 4⅓ innings, giving up just 1 hit, as Mundelein improved to 6-0. Jeff Morton was 3-for-4 with a triple, double and 4 RBI. Ryan Magee went 2-for-3, Nick Stricker finished 2-for-4, and Andrew Beres had a triple. Mundelein hosts Solorio Academy at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Lakes 7, Chattanooga Central 6: Lakes scored the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Logan Mueller led the Eagles with 2 hits and 2 RBI. Stephen Mogged added 2 hits.

Hueytown 7, Vernon Hills 4: In Gulf Shores, Ala., Vernon Hills went up 4-0 after two innings but couldn't finish the job. Hueytown scored 6 runs in the fifth inning to key its rally. Brad Larsen, Drew Winegardner and Tony Brown each drove in runs for the Cougars. Vernon Hills dropped to 3-5 with the loss and went 1-4 on its spring break trip.
