Know what you're voting for in Dist. 94

West Chicago High School District 94 has a referendum on Tuesday's ballot. I believe the voters should be fully informed with as much information as possible.

A "no" vote decreases your property taxes. "Yes" signs have sprouted up like weeds that read "no tax rate increase" which is true, the key word being rate. No mention that a "no" vote decreases taxes.

Smoke and Mirrors? With information, you decide. While I don't endorse either side I do believe all information should be presented. With current bonds expiring, new loans/debt of over $30 million would replace your current tax bill. So, no increase, just a continuation of what you currently pay. However, if the Referendum fails your taxes would Decrease roughly $94 for each $100,000 assessed. $282 for a $300,000 house and so on. So we're talking hundreds of dollars per year.

Residents are leaving the state because of high taxes. Illinois population has declined for years now. Sadly, many of our neighbors have moved to other states to pay lower taxes. Voters in Dist. 94 should at least know all of their options and that they have a say in decreasing their property tax.

Every voter should be presented both sides and know that a "yes" vote brings no increase and a "no" vote decreases their property tax.
