Engage D15 slate is involved, dedicated

The candidates running as part of the Engage D15 group (Barb Kain, Mike Smolka, Lisa Szczupaj, Anthony Wang and Frank Annerino) became very involved last fall when the school board announced the $130 million referendum.

They each believe that while the district moved too quickly to propose the referendum, it had merits which they'd like to help integrate into our school community. They favor initiatives such as boundary changes, full-day kindergarten and identifying options that can help close the achievement gaps between various student groups.

They strongly believe that with enough time, data, thoughtful analysis, and community involvement, these initiatives will be even stronger than what was proposed as part of last fall's referendum.

Their first priority is to ensure that the learners of our District 15 community continue to receive a world-class education. To do that, they need the support of the parents, administrators, teachers and community at large. Barb Kain, Mike Smolka, Lisa Szczupaj, Anthony Wang and Frank Annerino need your support to bring about the kind of change our kids and community deserve.
