Ingleside bicyclist hurt in collision with SUV

A 17-year-old bicyclist is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle at Rollins and Wilson roads in Ingleside, police said Wednesday.

Lake County sheriff's officials said the accident occurred Tuesday about 9:15 p.m. When deputies arrived on a report of an accident with injuries, they found a bicyclist and a Chevrolet Blazer had collided.

Preliminary investigation shows the bicyclist was traveling south on Wilson Road. The Chevrolet, driven by a 54-year-old man from Ingleside, was traveling west on Rollins Road. They collided in the intersection of Wilson Road and Rollins Road.

The bicyclist was wearing dark colored and non-reflective clothing, police said. He was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he remains in critical condition.

The driver of the Chevrolet was not injured.

The accident is under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff's Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
