Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago honored at ChildServ Legacy Banquet

ChildServ, a nonprofit dedicated to building better lives for children at risk, held its Legacy Banquet on Sunday, March 5, in Elk Grove Village. At the event, Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago received the Lucy Rider Meyer Courage Award in recognition of the hospital's partnership with ChildServ and its dedication to the health and well-being of children.

"Lurie Children's Hospital has hosted holiday parties for the youth in our group homes, provided car seats for families in our early childhood learning program, and developed a trauma-informed curriculum to help faith communities interact with children at risk," said Dan Kotowski, president and CEO of ChildServ. "Their impact and support have been tremendous, and we can't thank them enough for helping our kids reach their potential!"

"We are honored to receive the Lucy Rider Meyer Courage award from ChildServ, an exceptional organization that leads us all in listening to and meeting the needs of children in our communities," said Tara Gill, Ph.D., psychologist at the Center for Childhood Resilience at Lurie Children's Hospital. "We at Lurie Children's Hospital are so proud of our collaborations with ChildServ and committed to continuing our courageous work serving children and youth."

Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago is the first recipient of ChildServ's Lucy Rider Meyer Courage Award, which recognizes the determination, fortitude and spirit of an outstanding local, national or international leader, organization or corporation who demonstrates a commitment to the agency's founding principles: alleviating suffering, eradicating injustice, and facilitating the development of full human potential.

ChildServ's Legacy Banquet celebrated the nonprofit's 123 years of building better lives for children at risk, featuring testimonials from former residents of the Lake Bluff Children's Home, a forerunner to ChildServ, artifacts from the Lake Bluff History Museum, as well as the award presentation.
