Woman killed in crash on Interstate 88 in Oak Brook

A 23-year-old Chicago woman is dead after a two-car crash early yesterday on Interstate 88 in Oak Brook. Illinois State Police said the driver of a Lincoln LS lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons, ran off the roadway, bounced off the guardrail and struck a second Lincoln LS. A passenger in the first vehicle was ejected onto the roadway. Full story.

Family dog killed in Lake Zurich house fire

A family dog was killed yesterday in a fire that left a Lake Zurich home uninhabitable, officials said. The cause of the blaze, which caused an estimated $100,000 in damage, is under investigation. Full story.

Armed man robs Naperville salon, steals car

Naperville police are searching for a man who held up a nail salon and stole an SUV at gunpoint Saturday evening, authorities said. Police said the suspect entered the business in the 900 block of Ogden Avenue about 6:26 p.m. and showed a semiautomatic handgun. He then took an undisclosed amount of cash, as well as a black 2004 Volvo SUV before driving away in the stolen vehicle. Full story.

Downtown Arlington Heights barber shop closing after 89 years

It's the end of an era in Arlington Heights. First Arlington Barber Shop, with downtown roots dating back to 1928, is closing its doors for good, shop owner Kenny Callahan said. Over the years, generations of Arlington Heights families have gone to the shop for a shave and a cut. Full story.
