Residents can help Fox Lake win $20,000 parks grant

Fox Lake is asking residents help the village earn a $20,000 grant to help fund improvements at a local park.

The National Recreation and Park Association is collaborating with The Walt Disney Company, including Disney Citizenship, Disney|ABC Television Group and ESPN, to revitalize parks across the U.S. for a third year. The city that receives the most nominations will receive a $20,000 grant to improve a local park.

Fox Lake supporters can nominate the village at NRPA.org/BeInspired. Everyone who makes a nomination will be entered into a drawing for a tablet outfitted for the outdoors.

"It has always been a goal of mine to make the Village of Fox Lake not only a fun destination with our vast waterfront but also a great place to live and raise a family", Mayor Donny Schmit said in a news release. "Maintaining and improving our community parks is essential to sustaining the type of environment families can truly enjoy and take pride in."
