Softball: South Elgin splits in Tennessee

South Elgin's softball team split its two games in Murfreesboro, Tenn., Saturday to finish its spring trip with a 2-3 record.

The Storm opened the day with a 6-2 loss to LaVergne (Tenn.) then came back and beat Northwest of Clarksville, Tenn., 16-3.

In the win over Northwest, McKayla Timmons led the Storm with 4 hits, including 2 home runs and a double, and 5 RBI. Also contributing to the offense were Alissa Hargett (2 hits), Casey Brennan (2B, RBI), Alivia Doyle (2B, RBI), Haley Szubert (4 hits, 2B, 2 RBI), GraceAnne Aldred (3 hits, 2 doubles, 3 RBI), Geneva Pollman (2 hits), Erin Bradford (3 hits, 2B, 3 RBI) and Brynn Warrick (2 hits, RBI).

Pollman was the winning pitcher, going 5 innings and allowing 7 hits with 2 strikeouts and 2 walks.

In the loss to LaVergne, Hargett had 2 hits including a double and Timmons tripled.
