Welcome spring in the witchiest way possible
Cast a spell with the Schaumburg Park District's Walpurgis Night Bonfire and Wagon Ride.
Based on old German tradition, Walpurgis Night is set for 6 to 8 p.m., April 28, at Spring Valley's Volkening Heritage Farm, 201 S. Plum Grove Road. Activities include horse-drawn wagon rides and roasting hot dogs and marshmallows over an open fire.
"Come with your witch's hat, if you like, and help us usher in Spring and Summer in a fun and unusual way," said Patty Kennedy Green, farm coordinator. "All ages are invited to enjoy an evening at the farm."
The event also offers an opportunity to celebrate Schaumburg's German heritage. Walpurgis
Night is said to be a time when witches meet on the highest peak of the Harz mountain range in Lower Saxony, Germany to usher in Springtime.
Registration is not required. Cost is $7 per person and includes a hot dog, marshmallows and wagon ride. Admission is free for children 3 and younger.
