Baseball: St. Charles East downs Barrington

Keegan Kochis and Niko Klebostis combined on a 4-hitter Friday as St. Charles East defeated Barrington 4-2 in nonconference baseball action.

Kochis got the win, going 4 innings and allowing 1 hit with 5 strikeouts and 1 walk. Klebostis surrendered 3 hits with 4 strikeouts and no walks in his 3 innings of work.

Pat Griffin and Jack Jordan had RBI for the Saints (2-0), who only had 2 hits in the game but took advantage of 6 Barrington errors.

Jacobs 7, Marian Central 2: Mike Addante had 3 hits including 2 doubles and 4 RBI to lead the Golden Eagles (2-0) to this nonconference win. Adam Kale added 2 hits and 2 RBI for Jacobs while Braeden Wegner had 2 hits and Jacob Sonnefeldt an RBI. Justin Lavrisa was the winning pitcher allowing 2 hits with 5 strikeouts and 2 walks in 3 innings. Cory Dennison came on for the final 3 innings and allowed 3 hits with 2 strikeouts and no walks.

Geneva 11, Marengo 1: Geneva opened its season in downstate Jacksonville with this win, fueled by 2 hits including a triple and 4 RBI from Jack Olson. Cullen Geary added a double and 2 RBI for the Vikings while Ian Hansen (RBI), Josh Ross (RBI), Conor Cook (2 RBI) and Graham Owen (RBI) also contributed. Owen, the third of four Geneva pitchers, was credited with the win.

Romeoville 10, West Aurora 5: JJ Rivera and Cam Zimmerman each had 2 hits and an RBI and Alex Diaz added a double and an RBI for West Aurora (0-3) in this nonconference game.

Dundee-Crown 9, Palatine 5: Connor Ryan had 3 hits with a double and 2 RBI to lead the Chargers (3-0) in nonconference play. Winning pitcher Erik Hedmark added a double and an RBI while Brett Buske, Jonathan Mays, Scott Wojcik and Jack Waldron also drove in runs for D-C.

ACC 8, Joliet West 3: Winning pitcher Jimmy Laurenti had 3 hits with a double and 2 RBI and Johnny Belskis added 4 hits with 2 RBI as Aurora Central (4-0) won this nonconference game. Patrick Flanagan added 2 hits and 2 RBI for the Chargers.

Streamwood 13, Hoffman Estates 3: Michael Pawilkowski not only got the win on the mound he also had 2 hits including a home run and 2 RBI to lead the Sabres (2-0) to a nonconference win. Adam Sojda (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBI), Jose Aguilar (2 hits, 2B, RBI), Ryan Fitzgerald (2 hits, RBI), Chris Randel (RBI), Dan Kuehl (RBI), Dominic Robles (3 hits, 3 RBI) and Jeremy Beeson (2B) also contributed for Streamwood.

Huntley 7, Rockford East 2: Joe Rizzo (2 hits, RBI), Brad Maurer (2 RBI), Brad Model (RBI) and Adam Smylie (2 RBI) led the Huntley offense in this nonconference win. Smylie went 4 innings to earn the win on the mound for the Red Raiders (3-0), allowing 5 hits with 5 strikeouts and 1 walk.

Sycamore 17, Elgin 3: Cameron Jackson and Tim Mitchell had doubles for Elgin (0-4) in this nonconference loss. Kyle Coates and Hayden Gibson drove in runs for the Maroons.

Washington 2, Hampshire 1: In downstate Jacksonville, Carter Lawler (5 IP, 1 hit, 6 Ks, 1 BB) was the tough-luck loser in Hampshire's nonconference setback. A triple by Matt Jachec was the only hit of the game for the Whip-Purs (1-1-1).
