Softball: Late rally lifts Grayslake North

Grayslake North's softball team used a 5-run seventh inning to pull out a 12-11 win against Waukegan on Friday.

The Knights rolled up 16 hits in the game.

Sophomore pitcher Evan Garrett got her second varsity win with 5 strikeouts over 5⅔ innings.

Grace Brown finished 3-for-5 with a home run and 3 RBI. Senior Shannon Cremin hit her first varsity home run after missing last season with an injury. Garrett collected her first varsity hit with a game tying single in the top of 7. Kylie Conrad, Brown, Katie Moats, and Carissa Popp all had multiple hit days.

Carmel 11, Palatine 7: Winning pitcher Sydney Schuda improved to 2-0 and went 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI, as the visiting Corsairs won in nonconference action.

Jen Giesey was also 3-for-4 and knocked in 3 runs for Carmel (2-0), and Emily Haley finished 3-for-4 with 3 runs scored. The Corsairs pounded out 15 hits.
