Police: Man steals car at gunpoint at Naperville gas station

A Mundelein man was at a Naperville gas station Friday morning when his Lexus was stolen at gunpoint, authorities said.

The victim told police a man pointed a handgun at him and demanded his car while he was at the BP station at 1983 Brookdale Road.

Police said the victim, a 40-year-old man, turned over his vehicle and watched the suspect speed away heading north on Route 59 toward I-88. The victim wasn't hurt.

The suspect is described as a man about 20 years old dressed in all black, standing about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing about 200 pounds, Naperville police said. The victim told police he was unsure of the suspect's race.

The suspect last was seen driving the victim's silver 2013 Lexus with the Illinois license plate ES300H.

Naperville police say they've given information about the suspect and the victim's vehicle to nearby police departments. They're asking anyone with information about the carjacking to call investigators at (630) 420-6666.
