Baseball: Larkin tops St. Edward

Jackson Reuter and Gunnar Boley each had 2 hits Thursday as a balanced Larkin offense put up 10 runs in a 10-5 nonconference baseball win over St. Edward.

Reuter drove in a run and Boley had a double while Andy Bonnot (RBI), Kobe Mounivong (2B, 2 RBI), Max Anderson (2B, RBI) and Michael Rodriguez (2B, 2 RBI) also contributed.

Anderson went 4⅔ innings, allowing 6 hits with 4 strikeouts and 1 walk for the win on the mound for the Royals (2-1).

Matthew Schimbke had 2 hits and Mike Lopez (2B) drove in a run for St. Edward (0-3). Jack Olson, Ethan Palomino and Parker Frey each had RBI for the Green Wave as well. Schimbke was the losing pitcher.

St. Charles East 5, Conant 0: Drew Conn, Josh Soderstrom and Jeremy Cox teamed up on a 4-hitter as the Saints won their season opener. Pat Griffin and Justin Galante (RBI) each had 2 hits for SCE while Ryan Tiltges had 2 RBI and John Dellostritto and Thomas Adams each drove in a run.

Waubonsie Valley 4, Bartlett 3: Waubonsie pushed across a run in the top of the eighth inning to nip Bartlett in a nonconference game. Martin Moreno had 3 hits with a double and an RBI for Bartlett (1-2) while Frank Novello added 2 hits with a double. Max Smithberg also drove in a run for the Hawks. Ryan Sharko was the losing pitcher.

Timothy Christian 5, Harvest Christian 4: Losing pitcher Dominik Olech had 2 hits and Joey Pepper added a double and an RBI for Harvest in this nonconference loss in eight innings. Isaac Martinez also drove in a run for the Lions (4-1).

Cary-Grove 3, Fremd 0: The Trojans (3-0) scored all of their runs in the top of the seventh inning to win this nonconference game. Quinn Priester had a double for C-G while winning pitcher Ryan Ignoffo and Zach Willis each drove in runs. Matt McCumber got the start for the Trojans and went 4 innings, allowing just 2 hits with 8 strikeouts.

ACC 15, Lisle 3: The Chargers remained unbeaten as Jimmy Laurenti (2 RBI), Hunter Darnell (RBI), Johnny Belskis, Michael Bieterman (2B, 2 RBI), Austin Berens (2B, 3 RBI), Patrick Flanagan (2 RBI) and Matt Alfaro (3 RBI) all had 2 hits. Berens threw 6 innings allowing 3 hits with 8 strikeouts and 1 walk for the pitching win.

CL South 9, Barrington 3: Nick Wolski had 3 hits with a double and 3 RBI to lead the Gators (4-0) to a nonconference win. Griffin Bright (2 hits, RBI), Blake Kuffel (2 hits, RBI) and Kory Olsen (RBI) also contributed for Crystal Lake South. Andrew Engelking went 4 innings to earn the win on the mound.

Hampshire 6, Belvidere North 6: Carter Lawler (RBI), Kyle Homa (RBI), Matthew Wians and Jakob Kostecki (RBI) each had 2 hits for Hampshire (1-0-1) in this nonconference tie.

Huntley 10, St. Viator 0: Cameron Reed allowed just 2 hits with 6 strikeouts and 1 walk for Huntley (2-0) in a nonconference win. Tyler Koss (2 hits, 2 RBI), Jeff Heinrich (2 hits, 3B, RBI) and Adam Smylie (RBI) led the Red Raiders' offense.

Streamwood 9, West Chicago 5: Jose Aguilar had 3 hits with a double and 2 RBI while Michael Pawilkowski hit a solo home run to lead Streamwood (2-0), Ryan Fitzgerald also drove in 2 runs for the Sabres. Kevin Bauer was the winning pitcher in relief.

Oswego East 11, West Aurora 0: Dustin Tomas' double was West Aurora's only hit in this nonconference loss. The Blackhawks slipped to 0-2.

Woodstock 5, Elgin 0: JC Fortmann had 2 hits for Elgin (0-2) in a nonconference loss.

Yorkville 5, Marmion 3: Chase Stanke had 2 hits and an RBI for Marmion (2-2) in this nonconference loss. Collin Gibson also drove in a run for the Cadets. Eric Lundell was the losing pitcher.

Minooka 11, Batavia 3: Brent Norkus had a home run and Justin Pelley added 2 hits and an RBI for Batavia in its season opener.
