1 killed, 2 hurt in crash near Grayslake

A 77-year-old man was killed and two other people were injured in a crash near Grayslake Wednesday, officials say.

The three-vehicle crash happened about 2:50 p.m. at Peterson Road and Behm Lane, police said in a news release Wednesday evening.

A 74-year-old Grayslake woman driving a 2011 Chrysler minivan was headed east on Peterson Road and began to turn left onto Behm Lane. As she was turning, a 2003 GMC Sierra driven by a 45-year-old Wauconda man hit the passenger side of the minivan, where the 77-year-old man was sitting, according to the news release.

The front of a 2002 Honda Civic, driven by an 85-year-old woman from Grayslake, was also struck, authorities said.

All the passengers in the in the minivan and the GMC Sierra were taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

The 77-year-old Grayslake man was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The Lake County Coroner's Office has scheduled an autopsy for Thursday.
