Chance, Killers, blink-182 earn top nods for sold-out Lollapalooza
Chicago's Chance the Rapper joins some return talent claiming headlining spots at this year's Lollapalooza music festival, which sold out Wednesday.
The list of top acts, announced early Wednesday, includes the not-at-all-surprising choice to include Chance. The hometown performer has been hot in the news lately for his recent Grammy win, charitable work and involvement in Illinois politics, and over the last few years he has proven himself as a hugely talented draw, strongly positioning him to take the spotlight as a headliner. It's time for him to feel the love he's banked with Chicago.
Other closers for the festival, set for Aug. 3 through 6 at Chicago's Grant Park, include Muse, Arcade Fire, The Killers and blink-182, featuring McHenry's Matt Skiba. And, if that's not enough, Lorde, The XX, DJ Snake, Justice, Big Sean, Alt-J, Run the Jewels, Cage the Elephant, Foster the People, Wiz Khalifa, The Shins, Ryan Adams, Kaskade, Vance Joy, and Tegan and Sara join the fray, too.
After 2016's expansion to a four-day festival, Lollapalooza had lots of slots to fill with musical artists for this year's edition.
Some of those will be filled by Tove Lo, Zeds Dead, Liam Gallagher, Crystal Castles, Charli XCX, Glass Animals, 21 Savage, Kaleo, Warpaint, Russ, Noname and many more.
And don't miss more of Chicago's local talent when The O'My's play Thursday and The Walters take the stage Sunday.
Four-day general admission passes for the festival sold out Tuesday morning. Single-day passes sold out Wednesday, but VIP passes are available for $650 plus fees for single-day VIP, and $2800 plus fees for single-day platinum packages.
