Slate has right balance

As a former member of the Vernon Township Board, I understand the importance of township government and good elected officials. Township government works behind the scenes to help people in need and it's important that we have a good group of officials who are passionate, dedicated and committed to the people. Vernon Township is fortunate to have that slate of candidates running as the Vernon Township Citizens Party and I support them in their run for office.

Township governments, similar to village governments are nonpartisan in nature. It is set up that way so these positions can be focused on service to the community and caring for the citizens of the township. Each candidate on the Vernon Township Citizens slate comes from a different area of the township, so there is appropriate geographic representation. They each bring experience with township government to the table. This should always be a goal of township candidates; appropriate representation, experience and commitment to the citizens of the township. In recent years the members of this slate have increased transparency by providing access to documents online, expanding and providing support to hundreds of needy families and keeping a balanced budget.

As you cast your ballot, please vote for the outstanding group of the Vernon Township Citizens Party including: Robert Kelly (Vernon Hills) for supervisor; Barbara Barnabee (Lincolnshire) for clerk; Gary Raupp (Indian Creek) for assessor; Bryant Schroeder (Long Grove) for highway commissioner; and Krystyna Lucy (Buffalo Grove), Michael Theisen (Vernon Hills), Kyle Steininger (Vernon Hills) and James Kedroski (Buffalo Grove) for trustees. While I might not live in the township, I still care about it and the good reputation that has been developed over the years.
