Bridge to build new Okabe headquarters in Grayslake

GRAYSLAKE - Bridge Development Partners will develop the new North American distribution hub for Okabe Co. Inc. at the intersection of Peterson Road and Midlothian Road in Grayslake.

Okabe, a global leader in metal working, will relocate its North American headquarters from Vernon Hills.

The 133,951-square-foot build-to-suit development will include 20,323 square feet of high-finish, two-story office space, and warehouse space featuring 30-foot clear ceiling heights, 10 exterior truck docks and two drive-in doors, 4,000 amps of power, an ESFR sprinkler system and T-5 fluorescent light fixtures. The development will sit on a 21.85-acre site, and can accommodate more than 210,000 square feet of expansion space.

The site features close proximity to Interstate 94 and major Lake County thoroughfares, and is adjacent to other notable developments in the area, such as a FedEx sorting and distribution facility that opened in 2011.

Okabe was represented by Mas Ishida of Colliers International. Bridge was represented by Keith Puritz, Brett Kroner and Eric Fischer of Cushman & Wakefield.

Chicago-based Bridge executed the purchase and sale contract with Okabe immediately after closing the acquisition of the land site from the Lake County Fair Association. Keith Puritz of Cushman & Wakefield represented the Fair in the sale and was the sole broker involved in that transaction. Prior to closing their acquisition of the land site, Bridge successfully obtained a zoning classification change from the village of Grayslake.
