Immerse yourself in art: IAEA student show at Palatine Library

The arts are linked to greater academic achievement, attention span, emotions, creativity, and self-esteem. Everyone, no matter race, religion, or economic standing, can engage in the arts.

In support of this message, Palatine Library invites you to experience the 2016/2017 Illinois Art Education Association (IAEA) Student Art Show from April 4 through April 28.

This touring show consists of 45 pieces of award-winning art created from Illinois K-12 students. These outstanding pieces were selected from over 790 entries submitted for the annual show. For more about the Illinois Art Education Association visit https://ilaea.org/about.

One Palatine student, Gustavo Gonzales, from Lincoln Elementary School, has his award-winning Dragon Eye, colored-pencil drawing in the show. This is the fourth year in a row that a Lincoln School student's art has been selected.

"Gustavo is a very talented artist and deserving of this honor. We at Lincoln School are so proud of him," says art teacher Lee Ann Karsbaek.

Visit the second floor of the Main Library in April to view these award-winning pieces: drawings, paintings, collages, mixed media, and photography. Thank you to Ms. Karsbaek, IAEA, and all the art teachers everywhere, for promoting, developing, and supporting art education.

Palatine Public Library District www.palatinelibrary.org is your destination for knowledge, entertainment, and community. The district serves approximately 90,000 residents predominantly within the communities of Palatine and Hoffman Estates.
