Pakistan is specially focusing on economic progress and urban development, Mubashar Javed

Bolingbrook, March, March 16, 2017, Government of Pakistan is specially focusing on economic progress and urban development, said by Mr. Mubashar Javed, Mayor of Lahore during a meeting with Mayor Roger C. Claar of Bolingbrook.

Mayor Mubashir Javed briefed the Mayor of Bolingbrook about steady economic progress of Pakistan during the last three years. He also briefed Mayor Claar about Government's ongoing projects of urban development. He thanked Mayor Claar for his welfare efforts for Pakistani-American community of Bolingbrook. He also briefed Mayor. He also extended invitation to Mayor Claar for a visit to Pakistan, which he accepted.

Mayor Roger C. Claar appreciated the role of Pakistani-American community of Bolingbrook in development of economic and social life of the city. He informed Mayor Javed that Pakistan Day Flag Hoisting ceremony is being organized in the city of Bolingbrook for the last 26 years which is reflective of excellent ties between the two countries.

Mayor Javed also met Mayor Mickey Straub of Burr Ridge and held in depth discussion relating to urban planning and development. Mayor Javed suggested Mayor Mickey Straub to explore possibility of singing Sister City Agreement with a city in Pakistan in order to foster people to people contacts between the two countries. He also briefed the Mayor Mickey Straub about economic progress of the country and extended invitation for a visit to Pakistan which Mayor Straub accepted profoundly.

In another meeting with Mr. Jesse White, Secretary of State of Illinois, Mayor Javed discussed various issues relating to welfare of Pakistani community in Chicago. He also thanked Secretary of State for hosting a large number of Pakistani immigrants in Illinois. Secretary Jesse White appreciated the role of Pakistani Community and Pakistan Consulate in Chicago for forging friendly ties between United States and Pakistan.

Mr. Paul Vallas, superintendent Bridgeport Public Schools also called on the Mayor Javed at Pakistan Consulate and discussed way to enhance educational ties between the two sides. Mayor Javed asked Mr. Vallas to explore possibilities for more student exchange between Pakistan and United States.

Mayor Mubashir Javed during his meetings briefed the US politicians and officials about Pakistan's successes and sacrifices in the global war against terrorism. He said that Government and the peace loving people of Pakistan are firm to stem out the menaces of terrorism and extremism from the region.

Pakistan Business Association arranged two meetings of the Mayor Javed with Pakistani-American business community. Speaking with the Pakistani-American businessmen, Mayor Javed said that Pakistan is a raising economy and open for investment. He briefed the businessmen about investment opportunities in Pakistan and appraised them of recent economic development of the country. He said that Government of Pakistan is determined to facilitate overseas Pakistanis. He also briefed the leaders of Pakistani community about ongoing development projects in Pakistan. Mayor Javed specially urged Pakistani-American doctors and professors to support Government of Pakistan in its efforts to provide quality health and education facilities. He urged Pakistani professor to work on establishing campuses of North Western University and University of Chicago in Pakistan.
