Herget Middle School hosts McTeacher's Night benefit

Herget Middle School from West Aurora Unit District 129 held their second annual McTeacher's Night at the North Aurora McDonald's on Hansen Boulevard on Wednesday, March 15.

A McTeacher's Night is organized to help raise money for local schools by having teachers work at McDonald's and then giving a percentage of the night's sales to the local school.

On Wednesday, the restaurant was taken over by teachers excited to serve freshly prepared meals to students and their families to raise money for Herget Middle School. The students and families were excited to see their teachers and principal behind the counter and throughout the restaurant.

Twenty teachers worked from the middle school, including Principal Cindy Larry, Assistant Principal Chuck Thorton and Dean of Students Phil Zelman.

The McTeacher's jobs included greeting guests, cleaning the lobby, working the front counter, serving drinks, clearing tables and greeting customers at the drive-thru. All duties which were executed with great enthusiasm.

Middle school teachers Lisa Hartsell and Ashley Devlin had a blast calling out order numbers. The customers enjoyed Lisa's creative singing as each order was given to happy customers!

A special thank you goes to Herget PTA representative Connie Wicks who organized the event as well as everyone that worked and attended the event.

Herget Middle School teachers worked hard and with excitement, while the families enjoyed a spectacular evening.

The Herget PTA plan to use the money raised for PBIS events, Huskie Hangouts and the end-of-the-year celebration.

The PTA raised close to $400 at the event thanks to all the singing the teachers did for tips.

The students donated money to have the teachers sing the theme song over and over!
