DuPage woman accused of forging petitions for college board

WHEATON, Ill. (AP) - Prosecutors in in suburban Chicago say that a woman submitted forged petitions to earn a seat on a college board of trustees.

In a news release, DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin announced that 61-year-old Rafath Waheed of Lisle was charged with two felony counts of issuing a forged document and two felony counts of perjury.

Waheed is accused of making photocopies of completed signature portions of petitions, completing the candidate information by hand and then notorized those petitions as authentic in an effort to secure a spot on the College of DuPage Board of Trustees.

Waheed turned herself in to authorities on Wednesday night and was released after posting $1,000 bond.

Waheed could not be reached for comment because her listed phone number has been disconnected.
