Glen Ellyn Public Library STEAM Fair Saturday, March 18

The Glen Ellyn Public Library looks to ignite curiosity and enthusiasm during its annual STEAM Fair, Saturday, March 18 from 10 am - 3 pm.

"STEAM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math focuses on real-world applications of core knowledge, vital not only for children, but for community members of all ages," said Christina Keasler, Middle School Librarian. "The library has stressed STEAM programming not only because of its fun and educational format, but also to support the local school districts' curriculum."

Families can drop by anytime to view a variety of experiments, demonstrations and presentations from a diverse field of exhibitors, including the library. Exhibitors include returning favorites as well as new, soon-to-be favorites.

Two of the library's exhibits this year allow the community to experience the latest in home and gaming technology: experience smart home technology during a guided exhibit designed to replicate a technology-enabled family room; and experience virtual reality by signing-up to try out either the Oculus Rift or the Playstation VR.

This year's exhibitors include: America Association of University Women, Animindz, CeMaST Illinois State University, ChiBots-Chicago Area Robotics, Curtain Up Classroom, DuPage Children's Museum, Fermilab, Mathnasium, Midwest Torrance Center for Creativity/Center for the Gifted, NIU STEM Read, Rock Your Body Airbrush Tattoos, SCARCE, SciTech Hands On Museum, and WISSARD.

Throughout March, April and May, the library will be holding additional STEAM programming for both kids and adults. Learn more by visiting gepl.org/steam.
