M.H.S. show choirs, soloists earn top places

Mundelein High School's show choirs had winning performances March 4 when they took part in the Chicagoland Showcase at John Hersey High School in Arlington Heights. M.H.S. soloists were also singled out for their work.

The all-male group, SoundFX, took the first runner-up spot in the unisex division while the all-female group, Lights, earned second runner-up. The mixed group, Sound, took the first runner-up prize in the overall category. Bella Canela was named best female soloist within a show.

In addition to the choir performances, a solo competition was also held. Dominic Cappuccilli earned best male soloist while Sheridan Hurtig won best female soloist.

The last competition event of the season will take place in Herscher on March 18. Cory Thompson and Stevee Bellas direct the vocal music program at M.H.S.
