ECC, faculty union reach tentative agreement on contract

The Elgin Community College Board and the college's faculty union have reached a tentative agreement on a new three-year contract with the help of a federal mediator.

Negotiations began in September. The Elgin Community College Faculty Association (ECCFA) contract expired Dec. 31.

"The tentative contract provides a foundation for sustainability moving forward," said Eleanor MacKinney, ECC board chairwoman. "Additionally, it allows us to continue to provide the community with a college that has an excellent learning environment for students."

Officials said contract details will not be released until the tentative agreement is ratified by the faculty union membership and the ECC board.

"We appreciate the time and effort put into the process by members of both teams," said Patrick Gordon, ECCFA's chief negotiator and ECC associate professor of general business.
