Is there a particular issue that motivates you, and if so, what is it?I was born and raised in Lake County, Il., and received my associate of arts degree from the College of Lake County. In addition, I work for CLC in two different professional capacities that provided me an opportunity to understand the several needs of a diverse learning student body, as well as the external community. As a first time CLC Trustee Member Elect, my desire is to continue adding value in the field of education to ensure we have a growing and educated workforce economy moving forward. Some of the concerns that motivate me as a new CLC Trustee Elect are as follows:1) Find creative ways in leveraging resources to retain quality educational programs.2) Ensure equal and fair employment opportunities.3) Create innovative pathways for external educational partnerships to make education accessible and attainable.In tough economic times, many students (and working professionals) turn to a community college for its educational value. How do you ensure that a person's financial sacrifice results in an educational benefit?The benefit factor for all students should entail upfront information as it pertains to their educational journey. Lake County, Il., serves a diverse learning community and it would be my interest to ensure that the college provides critical information that will not only meet the need of learners but exceed their expectations at every campus.From the college's point of view, what budget issues will your district have to confront and what measures do you support to address them? If you believe cuts are necessary, what programs and expenses should be reduced or eliminated? On the income side, do you support any tax or fee increases?Candidate did not respond.Community colleges provide many services to a diverse population. Is there a service your college should be providing that it is not, or reaching a segment of the population that it is not?I would like to see more focus on assisting prospective students who have a criminal background gain more access to higher education. If the goal is to reduce recidivism, it will require various educational and employment opportunities made available to this select group of learners. The College of Lake County does have a program for repatriates, but it could be expanded and supported more to further assist the various needs of this learning population.If you are a newcomer, what prompted you to run for the community college board?
