It is my priority to listen to residents' concerns and options before making decisions. What is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales and property taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.Lisle home values have dropped 27% over the last eight years while the property tax burden has dramatically increased. We must freeze property taxes immediately. While property taxes have been going up, our sales tax revenue has dropped by nearly 60%. We have to make Lisle more attractive to retail, small business, and larger corporations to invest in our community. Increased opportunity and a growing tax base are key to improving our village and our finances.Rate the efficiency of your town's police and fire coverage. Are the departments well prepared for the next decade? What, if anything, should be changed? Do you have specific public safety concerns? One of the biggest comforts of living in Lisle is safety. I truly feel safe in Lisle, a direct result of the dedication hard working police and fire departments. While my son was a cub scout I have personally interacted with both the fire and police departments. Everyone that I have had the privilege of meeting, comes across with genuine concern for the citizens of Lisle.Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?In general we must look at the downtown redevelopment plan. Lisle is a very diverse town. We have several business corridors that have not been explored. I would encourage the review of all TIF district requirements to make sure that businesses that benefit from a TIF are holding up their end of the agreement and are actually adding value to our community. What is one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?Lisle lacks strong sales tax revenue. I will shift the tax burden away from residents by developing retail corridors within the village. I will work to stream line the process for new businesses and incent existing businesses that are ready to grow. What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?I believe that we need to have transparency and participation in government to best serve our community. Resident's voices need to be heard. I will change the way that the village board listens and responds to residents. Please name one current leader who most inspires you.Candidate did not respond. What is the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?Living beyond your means is no way to live. The value of money was ingrained into me by my first generation immigrant parents. If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?To be more politically active when I was younger. What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?I enjoyed Social Studies because governments and cultures are really about people who live and work together to improve their quality of life.If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Surround yourself with people who will question you, support you and challenge you to do your very best every day.
