The people I serve are my friends. I have been a council Alderman (3 terms), because I want to continue to make a positive contribution to the City of Warrenville residents, and not just fill a hole on my retirement schedule. My past experiences make me a great candidate choice. Former Street Superintendent for the City of Warrenville, witch qualifies me to understand what the needs of the community past and present moving forward. I have a firsthand understanding of the budget process, and the capital maintenance and replacement program. I continue to work part time for the Warrenville Fire Protection District (40 Years) and am completely familiar with the needs of safety concerns of the City. The Warrenville Fire Protection District cooperates at many levels with the City of Warrenville which I support. Other related services include, City of Wheaton Public Works, DuPage County Highway Department. My employment with the Warrenville Fire Protection District allows me to stay current with emergency services. I was chosen to help in 2005 for Hurricane Katrina, and deployed to Biloxi Mississippi to aide and rescue for the Military and Fire Service in GIS mapping.Procedures relate to the whole community, I have children and grandchildren in Warrenville who's future will only be protected through conscientious public involvement. My expertise and commitment make me the best choice for Ward 1 Alderman.What is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales and property taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.Stats shows City of Warrenville property tax rate to be slightly lower than most of are neighboring communities. The City of Warrenville has committed to not raise the tax cap. Are sales tax is higher than some of our neighboring community's. The City of Warrenville raised taxes on Motor Fuel, natural gas, electric, to help fund the Capital Fund. Because of a slow economic recovery we have had surplus tax revenue annually. This has been used for personal and property purchases, we need to look at this and be responsible and conservative with are tax dollars. We want to be the most efficient Government for the tax dollars, not the most expensive.Rate the efficiency of your town's police and fire coverage. Are the departments well prepared for the next decade? What, if anything, should be changed? Do you have specific public safety concerns?Stats shows City of Warrenville property tax rate to be slightly lower than most of are neighboring communities. We want to be the most efficient Government for the tax dollars, not the most expensive. Our Warrenville Police Department is well staffed, well trained, and well equipped. Our Warrenville Police Department has always been a top priority of the Warrenville City Council. The Warrenville Police Department has excellent responses times and training. The program to furnish the officers with Narcan for possible drug over doses has saved many lives. Police arrive on the scene usually first and have the chance to save lives. The Warrenville Police Department and the Warrenville Fire Protection District work very well together and do training together. The Warrenville Fire Department is governed by a board of Trustees separate from the City of Warrenville. Both departments are well trained and ready for future concerns.Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?The City of Warrenville largest expense is manpower and wages, efficient use of staff is essential. The budget is Farley balanced between all departments. On the agenda there is a proposal to add staff to Public Works, due to the consultant's recommendation. This needs to be look at for the placement and essential needs this will create.What is one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?When Cantera was developed it was the prize of Warrenville. There were many trails installed it was very nice. Years later I will not ride my bicycle on the trials due to deterioration. Warrenville is a bike community and these trails need to be kept up with the community.What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?My important issues are to serve the residents' of Warrenville and have an agenda that is the people's agenda, and thoughts.
