Prioritize them, and briefly discuss why you believe each to be critical, and how the board should go about addressing them.1. Continue to develop the Open Space Program as an important part of our community. I want to expand access to the sites and use my social media background to make every resident aware of the wonderful recreational opportunities which are there. Our Open Space sites offer residents unique opportunities to get healthy and to connect with the natural world and each other.2. I will support the General Emergency Assistance Programs and the Ride In Kane Program. I will look for additional transit opportunities for our residents. Communities with transit opportunities are more resilient in the face of economic stress. Local businesses benefit from having our residents shop and connect with them. Ride In Kane is a lifeline to residents who couldn't otherwise shop or access medical care just as the Assistance Programs are for residents facing utility shut-offs or eviction.3. Support an Intergovernmental Agreement, an IGA, to increase cooperation between the Road District and the Supervisor's Office. The Supervisor oversees both the Open Space Program and the Cemetery. The Road District has a lot of heavy equipment and is down to 15.2 miles of roads to maintain. It just makes sense to look for areas where equipment can serve both departments. A good Intergovernmental Agreement, similar to the one governing the salt barn at the Cemetery will accomplish that AND WILL SAVE TAX DOLLARS.What should be the primary responsibility of township government? To service the needs of all Township residents is the primary goal. Township Government's Primary responsibility is to serve residents and to fill in the service gaps between State Municipal Governments. Whether it is enjoying Open Space, to burying a loved one, providing assistance in trying times, giving that much needed ride, collecting taxes or street maintenance; Township performs acts that are essential. In the 21st Century, with municipalities gobbling up vacant land, why are townships needed? Should they be serving a new role? If so, what?Townships are needed. Township Open Space Programs provide residents with opportunities to preserve the parts of our community that make each place unique. Land saved by Townships never needs new schools or roads or utilities. It provides education, serenity and family environments for the residents. Townships fill in the gaps left by lack of Illinois State funding; this will include but is not limited to general assistance programs and Ride In Kane program. Are there any township offices that should be eliminated or consolidated? As a current resident my first thought is the elected office of the Highway Commissioner. The office could become a department such as Open Space or Cemeteries. In doing so all of the departments could share resources which would SAVE TAX DOLLARS.Can you identify some township expenses/programs that could be trimmed or eliminated to reduce the tax burden?Since attending Dundee Township board meetings for the past year; the largest expense savings would be achieved with a IGA between the Supervisors' office and the Highway Commissioner. I find that there are no programs which should be reduced or eliminated. I have found that the current boards' fiscal efforts are on target. To that point in 2018, the tax levy will drop to approx 1.8 % after the Open Space Bonds are paid off. I look forward to overseeing that decrease in our residents' tax burden. What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office? An opportunity that the Township can use is social media to expand exposure for programs and Open Space volunteer days. Please name one current leader who most inspires you.Elizabeth WarrenWhat is the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?Love and compassion. If you came to our home lacking a necessity my parents ensured you were taken care of.If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?If given a do-over I would do very little different; however, I would stress and eat less along with more exercise. What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?Science was my favorite courses in school. Science allowed me to be logical, use reason and to experiment until I reached my desired outcomes. If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Be true to yourself, follow your dreams and a failure is a success if you learned a lesson.
