Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.The biggest challenge we face in the next four years will be to hold the line on local taxes. This can only be done by helping local businesses to grow and attracting additional commercial development to enhance our tax base.Rate the efficiency of your town's police and fire coverage. Are the departments well prepared for the next decade? What, if anything, should be changed? Do you have specific public safety concerns?Like every citizen I am concerned about public safety. Every indication is that our police and fire departments are performing in an exemplary manor and they deserve our support in their efforts.Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?Since the Great Recession Aurora has lost a substantial portion of its assessed evaluation and has worked hard to balance its budget. I believe further savings may be effected with coordination of services with other taxing bodies.What is one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?One focus I would offer would be constant communication between the various taxing bodies that serve the Aurora community to avoid duplication of services and foster efficiencies .What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?The quality of education in our community, employment and volunteer opportunities for our youth, and safety for all our citizens.Please name one current leader who most inspires you.Former Vice President Joe Biden, plain speaking individual who overcame many personal challengesWhat is the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?Work hard, be honest and listen.If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?I enjoyed teaching and would have liked to have taught longer.What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?American History, I enjoyed so much I became a history teacher!If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Work hard, take time to enjoy family and friends, help your fellow man.
