Is there a particular issue that motivates you, and if so, what is it?My interest is in assisting the school board in making better choices on curriculum, and making sure the voice of the parents of children in the school are heard. What do you think about the process for measuring student success in your district? Is it adequate? What changes, if any, do you propose?I think the current process for measuring is adequate at this time. How big a role do you think the board of education should play in setting the curriculum for students and what ideas do you have for changes to the current curriculum?I think the role of the board of education should be in setting the standards that need to be in place. However, I feel the local schools and school board should decide on how to teach to that criteria and what additional concepts for learning should be taught as well. What budget issues will your district have to confront and what measures do you support to address them? If you believe cuts are necessary, what programs and expenses should be reduced or eliminated? On the income side, do you support any tax or fee increases? The issues I see are the additions to student volume that will come into play as new homes and other housing developments are added to the community. I do not believe cuts are the proper course of action, or for that matter any increases either. What I am for is re-evaluating where the current income is being spent and seeing if there is a better allocation of those funds. What role can and should school choice play in your district? If Congress or the state approves a voucher system or other means giving students broader choices among public and private schools, how will that affect your district? What is the appropriate response for the board of education of a public school system? At this point I would need to understand what the actual voucher system would look like before I could make a detailed response. What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?I truly feel that to be part of the school board for any school the people on the board should have a child or children enrolled in those schools. I also believe that we need to be doing a better job of preparing our children for success. This would include adopting things like the "Growth mindset" process. Also include some studying and remembering tools for children to use. We are not doing enough to create a solid learning foundation at this time. Please name one current leader who most inspires you.Everyone serving in public office. What is the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?Not to be afraid to ask questions. My dad would always say "if you don't ask you don't know".If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?Candidate did not respond. What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life? One of my favorite subjects was math.If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Never be afraid to ask questions.
