Des Plaines man wrongfully convicted of murder going back to prison

A Des Plaines man who received $25 million for spending 16 years behind bars for a murder he didn't commit is heading back to prison after admitting he shot a former gang member in the legs in 2015. Thaddeus Jimenez, 38, was sentenced to nine years and two months in prison yesterday after pleading guilty to federal charges of illegal possession of a firearm. Full story.

Glen Ellyn man not guilty of attempted murder, convicted of battery

A Glen Ellyn man has been acquitted of attempted first-degree murder charges but still faces three to 14 years in prison after being convicted of aggravated domestic battery in a case involving his father. Sleepy Hollow cell tower would be disguised as a windmill

A 125-foot-tall cellphone tower disguised as a windmill will be built on Sleepy Hollow property as long as company and village officials can agree upon the terms of a lease. Debates and heated discussions surrounding the proposed cell tower have been ongoing since 2015, when petitioner National Wireless Ventures LLC first introduced the concept as a way to improve cell service and data speed in the area. Big Hollow student taken for mental exam after threats

A Big Hollow Middle School student's threats to harm classmates and teachers led to an extensive investigation Wednesday evening and a mental health evaluation, police said. A parent contacted police about 5:45 p.m. Wednesday after a child overheard another student at school making the threats, Lake County sheriff's officials said in a news release. Full story.
