Brummel endorsed for Warrenville Mayor

Two candidates are vying for the office of mayor in Warrenville.

There's no question longtime incumbent David Brummel brings experience to the table. He's also done much to raise the profile of Warrenville among agencies and organizations in DuPage County and beyond.

Councilman Michael Hoffman will try a second time to unseat the incumbent. In a Daily Herald endorsement interview, Hoffman expressed concerns about TIF districts putting an undue tax burden on residents and feared that flood-abatement efforts along the river would not be adequate.

He also brought up an interesting idea about how the city could leverage the surrounding forest preserves and bike trails to attract more tourist dollars. His concerns are worth discussion by the council.

Still, Brummel has concrete plans for the direction of city and the skills needed to work effectively with the council as it considers them. Brummel is endorsed.
