Grayslake North's Wilson enjoying more success

Chelsee Wilson earned her second Student-Athlete of the Week award in women's track and field for Concordia Chicago when she broke two of her own school records at the Margaret Bradley Invitational.

The Grayslake North graduate won the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.89 seconds and the 200-meter dash with a 25.62, beating her former standards of 7.94 and 25.79 respectively at the meet hosted by the University of Chicago.

Wilson is currently 15th nationally in the 60 and 36th in the 200 in her quest to qualify for the indoor nationals.

Wilson's was previously honored for the award when she set a school record in the 400 meters in mid January.

The junior has a double major in communications and graphic design.

After the Bradley Invitational, Wilson went on to score points in four different events at the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference indoor championships meet in Kenosha, Wis., where the Cougars placed sixth.

Wilson ran in three individual races and a lap of the 4 x 400 relay.

She was timed in 7.44 in the 55 meters (second place) after qualifying with a record-breaking 7.31 in the preliminaries and a 59.42 in the 400, breaking her previous records of 7.42 and 59.76, respectively.

Wilson also finished third in the 200 with a 25.81 and helped the relay team (which included Alisha Johnson, Michelle Hennig and Jasmine Cawley) to a sixth-place finish at 4:26.12.
