2nd annual St. Patrick's Day 5K to benefit Anderson Animal Shelter

LoMar Events will once again be hosting a 5K run/walk to benefit Anderson Animal Shelter in South Elgin. The second annual St. Patrick's Day 5K will be held at 9 a.m. Sunday, March 12, in South Elgin. Advanced registration is encouraged.

Starting at SEBA Park in South Elgin, the route will follow the scenic Fox River Trail. Runners, walkers, dogs are all welcome to participate. Last year's event drew more than 260 people, excited to kick off their 5K season and run or walk for a great cause. Many came prepared for the elements and dressed in their celebratory green.

"I adopted my first puppy from Anderson way back in 1978," says Marcy Ostdick, co-owner of LoMar Events. "As I continued to watch Anderson grow and save so many animals over the last 35 plus years, it became obvious that they were the logical fit to become the beneficiary the St. Pat's Day 5K held in South Elgin. The work and dedication from their staff and volunteers continues to astound me."

This year's event will offer raffle prizes for participants, on-site pre- and post-run chair massages by Total Body Chiropractic & Massage, a Dairy Queen coupon, and medals for all adult and youth participants. In addition, winners' pins will be given to first- to third-place overall male and female winners.

Businesses from the surrounding communities can support the 5K through advertising and sponsorships, in-kind donations for raffle prizes and by volunteering to assist on race day.
