CLC tuition rising for 2017-18
Grayslake-based College of Lake County trustees have approved tuition and fee increases for the 2017-18 academic season. However, instead of a proposed $6-per-credit-hour boost as recommended by the administration, the CLC board approved a $3 increase at a meeting this week.
That will bring total tuition and fees from $135 to $138 per credit hour. Board Chairman William Griffin said the school could tap into roughly $30 million in reserves to cover a potential revenue shortfall with the $3 per-credit-hour tuition hike as opposed to $6.
College Trustee Richard Anderson was the lone dissenter in a 6-1 vote, saying the college should not derive extra revenue "on the backs of our students."
