Des Plaines city council election debates set

The Des Plaines Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2992 is hosting a series of candidate forums for contested city council races in the April 4 election. The forums will follow a debate/town-hall format.

The mayoral debate between Mayor Matt Bogusz and 6th Ward Alderman Malcolm Chester is at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Friendship Conservatory, 395 W. Algonquin Road. The 7th Ward debate between candidates Bob Porada and incumbent Alderman Don Smith is 7 p.m. Thursday, March 9, at Maryville, 1170 N. River Road. The 3rd Ward debate between candidates Gene Fregetto and incumbent Alderman Denise Rodd is 7 p.m. Monday, March 13, at Prairie Lakes Community Center, 515 E. Thacker, in Mountain View rooms 1-2. The 1st Ward debate between Steven Mokry and Mark Lysakowski is 7 p.m. Thursday, March 16, at the Des Plaines Public Library, 1501 Ellenwood, Room A.
