Man accused in killing mistakenly released from custody

CHICAGO (AP) - A man accused in a Chicago expressway killing has been released from custody after being found eligible for parole in an unrelated attempted robbery case.

The Illinois Department of Corrections released Garrett Glover on Friday after he was sentenced Thursday to four years in prison for an attempted armed robbery in 2014.

Glover had been in jail since at February 2014. When sentenced, he was given credit for already serving 879 days in jail. He was supposed to be returned to the custody of the Cook County Sheriff's Department.

The 29-year-old Glover is awaiting trial in the Sept. 5, 2012, shooting of 25-year-old Larry Porter. Porter was driving south on Chicago's Dan Ryan Expressway when he was shot.

Court records show that in addition to Glover, Patrick Calvin and Tyrone Mixon are awaiting trial in the killing of Porter.
