Naperville woman killed in tollway crash

A Naperville woman died early Monday morning after the SUV she was riding in crashed at a tollway plaza on I-294, authorities said.

Reshma Khan, 49, was a passenger in the Ford SUV that crashed in the northbound lanes of I-294 on the westbound ramp to I-80 near Hazel Crest about 11:15 p.m. Sunday, authorities said.

The driver of the SUV attempted to pass a semi-truck on the right shoulder and struck a wall, according to media reports. The SUV struck the semi-truck the driver had attempted to pass and another semi-truck, authorities said.

Khan was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 12:32 a.m. Monday, authorities said. The driver has been released from the hospital after treatment for minor injuries, authorities said.

The crash caused the right three lanes of the tollway plaza to close for about four hours overnight.
