Buffalo Grove Police partner with Help USA Troops

The Buffalo Grove Police Department is working with Help USA Troops to collect items for soldiers that are stationed overseas. Help USA Troops is a local nonprofit organization that collects and sorts items that are then shipped in care packages to military members deployed around the world.

The department is collecting donated items at its offices at 46 Raupp Blvd. through the end of March. Items requested include personal hygiene products, pocket-size food and snacks, candy, gum, single-serving-sized powdered drink packs and iTunes gift cards.

Help USA Troops began in honor of Marine Lance Cpl. James Stack, who was killed in action on Nov. 10, 2010. Since then, the organization has sent approximately 800 packages filled with goodies to deployed service members each year.
