Trade food for library fines in March

The Aurora Public Library will conduct its semiannual Food for Fines drive March 1-31 at all locations. The drive also is held each November.

All library locations - Santori, Eola Road Branch, West Branch and the Bookmobile - will accept one item of nonperishable food in payment for every $1 in fines up to $5 in fines per person. Only nonperishable, labeled items in containers that are not damaged, expired or rusty will be accepted. The items will be donated to the Marie Wilkinson Food Pantry.

Needed items include beans, canned or dried; boxed meals; canned chili; cereals; fruit in cans or squeeze packs; macaroni & cheese; canned meats; peanut butter and jelly, jams; pasta in cans, bags or boxes; canned soups, sauces or stews; tomato sauce; canned tuna; and canned vegetables.

Food for Fines collects thousands of food items during the one-month drives. The program was instituted in 2000.
