Transportation service for seniors celebrates 10 years

Come celebrate the wearin' of the green at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 5, at Peggy Kinnane's, 8 N. Vail Ave., Arlington Heights. That is when Escorted Transportation Services Northwest continues to celebrate its 10-year anniversary with this FUNraiser.

All are welcome to split the pot of gold, enjoy fine food and drink and the good feeling that comes from supporting a grass roots group. ETS/NW serves seniors in local communities by getting them to their medical and dental appointments with dignity and compassion.

To date, more than 100 ETS/NW volunteer drivers have provided more than 25,000 round trip rides to more than 800 senior passengers. Although anyone older than 60 qualifies, the median age of passengers is closer to 85 years old.

They say they not only appreciate the ride, but also the companionship and the security of having a caring volunteer remain with them, in addition to transporting them, to their medical and dental appointments.

ETS/NW crosses township lines within the 160 square miles they cover, and occasionally beyond, as volunteer availability permits. In addition, with a special heart for senior veterans, ETS/NW volunteers travel to Veterans Administration Hospitals as well.
