Palatine Library celebrates National Women's Month

In honor of National Women's Month, Palatine Public Library District offers several programs about women during March.

Vocalist/guitarist Pat Gaughan presents a musical journey back to the '60s and '70s when women folk musicians were coming to the forefront of American culture in Both Sides Now: Women of Song from 7-8 p.m. Monday, March 6.

Celebrate women who served in World War II from 7-8 p.m. Thursday, March 16, with author Cyndee Schaffer in the program Mollie's War: First Women of the U.S. Army. She shares stories and discusses her book, "Mollie's War: The Letters of a WWII WAC in Europe," based on her mother's letters home while she served abroad. Books will be available for purchase.

Lynn Rymarz, storyteller and children's author, visits from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, to portray Eliza, the wife of Alexander Hamilton. Learn the true story of her husband, one of our nation's Founding Fathers, and how his fight for liberty affected his marriage, his death in a duel, and her life afterward.

To sign up for these programs, call (847) 358-5881, ext. 167, or visit www.palatinelibrary.org.
