COD Track and Field Athletes Ready for NJCAA Indoor Championships

The College of DuPage Track and Field team has added more qualifiers to the list of athletes competing at the National Junior College Athletic Association indoor track championship March 3 and 4 in Pittsburg, Kansas.

At North Central College's Feb. 17 Cardinal Classic, the Chaparral distance medley team comprised of Torrain Haughton, Brendan Vazquez, Peyton Chapman and Marco Martinez qualified with a time of 10:38. Haughton had previously qualified in the individual 800 meters and Martinez in the 3000 meter run. They are joined by Nate Wesolek who previously qualified in pole vault.

While not qualifying for the NJCAA championship, the Chaparrals also had strong showings Feb. 17 in the triple jump and shot put. Joshua Jones also came within inches of qualifying in the triple jump as he recorded his best jump of the season at just over 46 inches. Nick Tegtmeier threw 44'4" in the shot put, a personal best with College of DuPage.
