Algonquin Garden Club offers a new scholarship

The Algonquin Garden Club offers a new scholarship, the Diane Connelly Memorial Scholarship. It was established in 2016 by the Connelly family in memory of their beloved Diane, who passed away last spring. She was a past club president.

This $2,000 scholarship is an addition to previous awards made by the club, which have ranged from $500 to $2,000.

Scholarships are awarded to individuals pursuing a career in the fields of horticulture, conservation, agriculture, forestry, architecture, environmental studies or the teaching of these subjects.

To be considered, applicants must be a resident of Algonquin/Lake in the Hills (exceptions will be considered) and who have been accepted into or enrolled in a college or university. Two letters of recommendations and a transcript of grades are also required.

Completed applications must be postmarked by Wednesday, March 15.

Applications with additional information are available through the guidance departments of Jacobs, Dundee-Crown, Hampshire and Marian Central Catholic high schools, as well as McHenry County College.

Applications are also available on the club's Facebook page or by contacting the club at P.O. Box 7851, Algonquin, IL 60102.
