St. Edward girls basketball team heads to Normal

The St. Edward girls basketball team departed its Elgin campus Thursday en route to Redbird Arena in Normal for the Illinois High School Association Class 2A Final Four state tournament.

The Green Wave qualified for the tournament by beating Illiana Christian 49-46 Monday night at the Concordia University supersectional.

This is St. Edward's first trip to a state final tournament since 2007. The Green Wave will take on Bloomington Central Catholic in the 7:15 p.m. semifinal Friday. The game can be seen live on Comcast SportsNet.
