Victims robbed in Elgin after ATM withdrawal

Elgin police are looking for armed robbers who targeted people who made an ATM withdrawal.

Officers responded about 12:27 a.m. Thursday to the 300 block of Heine Avenue and were told by the victims - a female driver and two male passengers - that they had noticed a suspicious vehicle might have followed them after they made an ATM withdrawal, police said in a Facebook post Thursday afternoon.

The victims parked on Heine Avenue, and the other vehicle stopped next to them. Two men got out and approached the victims while armed with a handgun, the victims said.

The robbers took cash and a personal item. No one was injured, police said.

No information was immediately available about where the ATM withdrawal was made.
