Naperville Community Television Summer Internship Program - High School

"Having an internship on your resume when you apply for college really shows that you're thinking about your future," says Lauren Berger author and blogger for InternQueen.

At NCTV17, we've been committed to educating the next generation of broadcast professionals for many years. As part of that commitment we offer high school internship opportunities at the station each summer.

According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), internships can be defined as a form of experiential learning that integrates knowledge and theory learned in the classroom with practical application and skill development in a professional setting. College applicants with internship experience stand out as prepared and hard working.

NCTV17 interns get real-life, hands-on experience in the TV world, from camera operating and editing, to field interviews and studio shoots. Interns also learn about leadership, communication, business ethics, and community relations from weekly panel presentations given by local Naperville business and government leaders.

Students who have completed their freshman year at Naperville Community Unit School District 203 or Indian Prairie School District 204 or reside in Naperville are eligible to apply for an internship at NCTV17.

Previous NCTV17 interns have gone on to pursue careers in television production, broadcast journalism, and communication at larger organizations including NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, Fox, 120 Sports, and Banner Collective.

Applications are due March 26.
