Donate to Home of the Sparrow's 10th annual My Sister's Dress Event

The 10th annual My Sister's Dress Event is now collecting new and gently used formal dresses and accessories to prep for the fun day.

My Sister's Dress helps to break the economic barriers that often times can hold students back from their high school experiences. The organization proves it is not necessary to spend a ton of money to look phenomenal and to participate in an unforgettable night.

Not only can young women buy affordable attire for prom, but all proceeds from the event will benefit Home of the Sparrow, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides housing and supportive services to homeless women and children in Northern Illinois.

So bring your daughters, sisters and friends prom dress shopping on Saturday, March 4, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sage YMCA, 701 Manor Road in Crystal Lake.

Dresses will be available to purchase for $25 each.

Affordable shoes, jewelry, purses and accessories also will be available for purchase to complete your prom look.

In addition, attendees can participate in raffles organized by Star 105.5. Some of the prizes include a new Alfred Angelo Prom Dress from Shelley's Bridal ($199 value) and a Pearly Whites Basket from Sexson Orthodontics filled with teeth whitening and care products ($150 value).

Spring cleaning is right around the corner. Now is the time to go through the beautiful dresses hanging in your closet and donate them to a great event supporting a great cause! Help My Sister's Dress make prom affordable for everyone.

The following local businesses are accepting dress and accessory donations during their regular business hours: Star 105.5, 8800 Route 14 in Crystal Lake; Sage YMCA; Taylor Stevens Salon and Spa, 940 S. Randall Road Algonquin; all American Community Bank locations, Home of the Sparrow headquarters at 4209 W.
